About me

Tacfit personal trainer

with a capoeira and

jiu jitsu background

I would love to have 2 hours a day to go to the gym, but the harsh truth is that I don't have that time. In my short life so far, I realized 3 things:

1. Life happens. Working for corporate happened. Working at startups happened. Kids happened. There's no shortage of life happening and taking over. I learned the hard way that if I  didn't actively schedule in time and have a real plan to dedicate toward improving and maintaining my health, it would always fall to the lowest priority in my list. i.e. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN. If it's not on the calendar, it doesn't happen. If you didn't write it down, it didn't happen.

2. If you let others define fitness for you, you will put in tremendous effort and eventually be dissatisfied, injured, or both. Fitness is never defined, and we tend jump into any modality that seems to be trending or popular because doing ANY workout equates to being healthy - and that's far from the truth. Fitness is highly personal, and my needs are very different from the top social media influencer squatting 300lb. When I stepped back and really thought about how I wanted "fitness" to serve my life, that's when I started to see real results. I needed to change my mindset and define fitness for myself.

3. Investing in myself never went wrong. The more consistent effort I put in, the more those benefits showed up in other areas of my life: feeling gratitude, better mood to engage in my relationships, boosted energy for my family, and feeling more connected with my own mind and body. It didn't have to take a tremendous amount of time, but it in the short time I did have I just needed to focus on the right things. I never regretted putting time and effort into something that helped me become a better person. Investing my physical health the past 20 years now has paid dividends today, and I will continue paying into it.

Hi, I'm Alfred - I help people navigate the fitness waters with a health-first sail.  When your goal is to move better, feel better, and be better to help tackle your bigger, more important life goals - you've come to the right place. You'll also enjoy the muscle gain and weight management as part of the journey.

I help you KEEP IT HEALTHY  (not everything in fitness is)

and I use the TACFIT system to help clients find the right cadence of recovery, injury prevention, strength building, and conditioning that directly carries over to improvements in daily activities and recreation. â€‹â€‹My specialty is in functional fitness and incorporating movement based training tools such as clubbells, steel mace and good 'ol bodyweight exercise.

FITNESS CLASSES ARE MY JAM. When done right, it can be the best "middle-ground" between personal 1-on-1 and large group class. I enjoy being an independent trainer to be able to offer clients a much more personalized experience to meet their needs. My certifications include:

  • FLOWFIT Level 1 Instructor

  • TACFIT Level 1 Instructor

  • TACFIT Clubbell Level 1 Instructor

  • TACFIT Steel Mace Level 2 Instructor

You have to be in the game to have a deeper understanding. Aside from fitness, I am an ongoing Capoeira and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner. I also have worked professionally as an engineer for over 12 years and have had my fair share of dealing with stressful long hours at the desk and computer. I can say in my own experience that a smart, healthy training approach has made a huge difference in performing in my sports after 40 as well as my ability to show up for my kids, family, and life duties. I pride myself mostly on my ability to take complex movements and break it down for others to learn and run on their own without me.
